Gorge walking in Andalusia is another of our specialities. Our autonomous community has numerous places to descend gorges, which are apt for all levels (for some of them absolutely no prior experience is necessary and for others it would be convenient to have a good level of physical fitness). The gorge walking descents are made surrounding a river (whether it has flowing water or not). It could be defined as a combination of activities (like for example diving into the water from a rock or abseiling (down a waterfall with its corresponding safety measures) exercises with which the participants make progress down through the canyon until they arrive at the end point. If you would like to enjoy contact with nature, work out some adrenaline and have a great time, try out our gorge descent!

SaltaRios organizes various sessions of this activity in a number of Andalusian provinces: gorge walking in the River Verde and Lenteji (in Granada); Almanchares and Sima del Diablo (Malaga); Genilla (Cordova); Calzadillas (Seville); and Canyon de la Bolera (Jaen). Gorge walking in Granada (in river Verde and Lenteji) is amongst the most highly recommended activities by our clients. The first in Las Sierras de Tejada, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park, the heart of the Cordillera Penibetica, and offers a very attractive descent session which can be enjoyed all year round; given that the river has a stable water flow, the area is not overcrowded and the water temperature is appropriate, it is also available in winter. As in other cases there are various stretches which can be hired to go gorge walking on the River Verde, apt both for beginners and non-beginners and which contain various jumps throughout the trip.

If the participants choose to go gorge walking in Lenteji, they will have the chance to appreciate spectacular surroundings in which to do this activity. Lenteji is an exceptional place. The descent can also be done stretch by stretch, depending on the desired intensity of the clients. The incorporation of the Lenteji descent to gorge walking in Granada is relatively recent. During this activity participants have the opportunity to do various abseil descents and jumps. To get more information on gorge walking in Granada as well as in other places in Andalusia, click on the links on this page. Participants on the descents should be at least 16 years old. On arrival groups are given a brief explanatory talk by a qualified monitor and the organization will supply all the necessary equipment: a helmet, a neoprene wetsuit, a harness and neoprene socks. Groups are guided throughout the whole itinerary by professionals who know the terrain through which they are moving and who monitor the safety of the group at all times.
